Michael and Laura Ellis will be holding a cake sale at the Summer Series Event on the 23rd April to raise money for their Expedition to Tanzania in 2017 where they will be completing the building of community projects, Laura's is an adults skills centre and Michael's a primary school. Please bring your money and refuel after your run! Thank you.

The Club AGM will be held at IBM Hursley on Friday 15th April at 7.30pm. Nominations are sought for the posts of Club Treasurer, Welfare and Publicity Officers.

We have requested to use Mozzarrelo Joes on Clarance Esplanade as a venue for this event. They are happy to host us as long as some competitors stay for drinks or food. Please let me know if you are likely to stay for a meal after the event.

The first round of the Compass Sport Cup (national club competition) will be held on Sunday 13 March at Denny Lodge.

As this is a club event, entries are coordinated by the club captains. Please let me know as soon as possible (and definitely by 27 February) if you would like to run.

If you know that you are helping, let me know and I will indicate this on the entry form.

A great turn out of SOC orienteers, family and friends were out at Wimborne's Boxing Day Canter yesterday. We had fun orienteering at Moors Valley Country Park and tried to find the bonus moving controls of Santa and the Fairies!

The second order of SOC O tops have arrived. Everyone who ordered an O top should have received an email from me informing you that they had arrived. The club also has a small amount of stock for sale so if you didn't order and would like a club shirt, then let me know or find me at an event. I plan on handing out the O tops at the King's Garn Gutter event on Sunday and at the Christmas social. The O tops are £22.50 for short sleeves or £27.00 for long. 

There will be an Event Safety Workshop on Sat 3rd Oct. This is a requirement for anyone organising or controlling an event of Level C and above and may be of interest to planners or as a refresher if you have previously attended such a workshop.

Timing expected to be morning. Venue tbc but aiming for Eastleigh. Please contact Di Smith to register your place.

The South Central Orienteering Association is the umbrella organisation which co-ordinates the activities of the orienteering clubs in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Key tasks include:-

• Co-ordinating fixtures between clubs and adjoining regions

• Staging the larger national championship events which generally involve most if not all clubs in the Region due to their size and complexity

• The Junior Squad

• Training of coaches and event officials
