[img_assist|nid=264|title=JIRC 2009 Prize Giving|desc=|link=node|align=right|width=200|height=143]One of the most important events in the year for the juniors is the Junior Inter Regional Orienteering Championships, which were held in Northern Ireland this year. The South Central Region (SCOA) sent a team of 18 to the event, which included three from SOC, Tim Morgan, Jamie Hicks and Tamsin Moran. The event consisted of an individual, which was held in the very picturesque surroundings of the Mountains of Mourne and a relay in Belvoir Forest close to Belfast.

There will be information and guidance available and a number of different courses will be available to suit all ages and abilities. Start any time between 10am and 2pm from the Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre in the South East corner of the Common. Postcode SO15 7NN and Grid Reference SU417139. Sam Massey came an excellent 6th overall and 1st civilian, Philip Eeles came 10th overall and 2nd civilian. SOC were also the civilian club winners, for the third year running, this time followed by SO, BOK and SN.
