The 5th event in the 2022 Spring/Summer SOC MapRun League.

The event will be available in the app from Friday 20 May 2022. For your run to count in the League, you must submit your results by the end of Thursday 2 June 2022. After that, you can still have a go at the course but it won't count for the League. Note that, due to the Bank Holiday, the social will be on Wednesday.

UK > Find Your Way > FYW South Hants > FYW SOC League 2022

Location: Starting and finishing near the Abbotswood Sports Ground, Cutforth Way, Romsey SO51 0BG: What3Words: shredding.rucksack.heaven

Format: 45 minutes, 32 controls. Points are 10, 20, or 30 per control: 10 points for 1 - 10, 20 points for 11 to 20, and 30 points for 21 to 30 etc, for a maximum of 770 points. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.

MapRun app: Use the new MapRun6 app. Do not use the original MapRun app as it does not understand the score format. When navigating to the event, select UK > Find Your Way > FYW South Hants > FYW SOC League 2022 or use this link on your phone.  See the MapRun website for guidance on configuring your phone.

Map: The map is a 1:7500 OpenOrienteeringMap. There are both β€˜stick’ and β€˜pseudo’ maps available and the PDFs can be downloaded below. It may be beneficial to take both maps.

Terrain: The course is around the residential areas and primarily on paths. There are some open and wooded areas. Some areas of vegetation have grown since the mapping and there are a couple of unmarked fences.

Safety: There are lots of road crossings. Under 16's should be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed whether marked on the map or not – this also includes squeezing through holes in fences!

Social: Wednesday 1st June 2022 at The Dog and Crook, SO51 0QB from 7.30 pm.
