This is just how orienteering should be - lovely weather, good courses and friendly chat in the car park. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you for coming.

Well done Mark for finding some interesting challenges in a not very technical area.

And particular thanks to the great team of SOC volunteers.

Julian

First and foremost, I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped with this event.  The controls were quickly and efficiently deployed, the start worked like clockwork, computing went without a hitch (save for a venerable emit card!), the gate was safely guarded, and the controls were all brought safely in again.  And with the excellent weather on top of that, I don't think a planner can possibly ask for more!

Thanks must also go to everyone that came along today to participate - I received a lot of positive feedback on both the courses and the map.  I think a couple of accuracy improvements can be made on the latter, and I've also taken to heart feedback on hanging controls a little more accessibly on the lower TD courses.

And of course, thank you Julian for organising this event.

I must say that I enjoyed the day immensely!

Thanks to Mark for the courses - the Green was a joy, with lots of opportunities to get off the paths. Thanks to Julian for the organising and to all the helpers for laying on a great event!

Great job Julian, Mark and everyone who helped make it a very enjoyable day. I also found the green course great with just the right amount of challenge. Thanks again

British Champs 2022

Mark LightThirty SOC members competed in the British Championships on Saturday in some tough terrain on the outskirts of Liphook. Podium places went to Terry Sankey (1st on M75S), Emma Currie (1st on W16B), Anya Crocker (1st on W35S), Christine Currie (2nd running up on W40L), and Jane Morgan (3rd on W60L). Clare Leveridge also deserves a special mention for her epic run on W21E which earned her 8th place.

It is also only right to also call out Terry Smith who was controller for the event, one of the many unsung roles without which events like this would never take place. He was ably assisted by Di.

Many thanks to Lisa James for managing the teams for today's relay. ChristineJane, and Clare were 5th on Women's Short with Clare 3rd on the last leg. MarkPaul, and David were 6th on M40. KevinColin, and Julian were 14th on M60 with Julian 2nd on the last leg. DuncanEmma, and Lisa were 18th in the Mixed Ad-hoc.
